My Voice Experience
Received the Audie for unabridged non-fiction in 2002 for my narration of David McCullough's "John Adams." Was Audie finalist for Joseph Ellis's "His Excellency" in 2005. These are among the more than 150 titles I have narrated for Recorded Books, Inc. I have received two "Earphone" awards from AudioFile magazine, and was named a "Best Voice" for 2008 by the magazine.
Have narrated complex material for Educational Testing Service --the Graduate Record Exam, the Scholastic Aptitude Test, and the General Management Aptitude Test, in addition to the Law School Aptitude Test.
I take pride in creating warm, communicative sound from cold type.
My Training
I am a cum laude graduate of Princeton University, having majored in English.
I worked in public relations management for the Bell Telephone System in the areas of employee information, media relations, community relations, speakers bureau management, film distribution, and public relations planning.
My Studio Equipment
As of August, 2008, I am proficient with Adobe Audition software, but currently strongly prefer to work in a professional studio(New York, Philadelphia, Princeton areas.)
Additional Skills
I read to children in a neighborhood elementary school during the school year(mostly E.B.White titles, but also other titles selected by the classroom teacher.) Seeing and adjusting to their reactions helps me treat children's material appropriately in the studio as well.
My wife and I have taught second- and third-graders in our local church Sunday School for 39 years.
I perform as a lay reader for local church services, and my wife and I are active in local theater production companies.
I develop and present programs for community groups; these range from humor to historical and biographical material.
