My Home Base
Denver, Colorado, United States
Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects
My 'native' accent is middle American, with very little regional color, even though I am from the American South. I have used a variety of British accents and a bit of German and Russian (or general Slavic) and can be very precise given time to go over a script for usage.
My Voice Experience
Over the years I've recorded 'ads-on-hold', National Park guide tapes, and documentaries. In recent years I've done political spots (slow burns seeming to be a specialty), commercials and a number of corporate promotional jobs.
My Training
My education has mostly been straight acting, including long runs with talented coaches in Denver: Bill Howey (now in LA) and David Dalton in particular. I've taken VO specialty classes with Bob Bergen and with James Alburger and Penny Abshire. My college degree, from some time ago, is in Philosophy and English and yes, it actually helps.
My Studio Equipment
My home studio is very basic at this point - a good low-end microphone (AKG Perception), Presonus FireBox interface, MacBook Pro running Peak LE (with Cubase LE, SoundTrack and GarageBand as backup for multitrack projects). I have, and have some experience, with Final Cut Pro as well, should the occasion arise. The acoustics here are clean, and I'm currently working on better sound isolation.
Additional Skills
While I'm not a professional writer, I published a newsletter for the Colorado film and video industry for a number of years, writing and editing nearly all of the stories on a weekly or bi-weekly basis -- which is all by way of saying that I can and do write in a pinch. Misspellings and grammatical errors tend to catch my eye, even when I'm not looking; I'm a natural proof-reader at heart. I suppose that I'm trying to justify all those years in English class, and writing papers in Philosophy.
