Voice Description

Having an acting background and a versatile vocal training I am capable of creating many different character voices. I have a mid and tenor vocal range and have done VO's ranging from smooth and debonair to quirky and villainous. I have a broad singing vocal range and can perform many different styles including pop, classical, rock, hiphop, jazz, and folk. I have done voice acting for radio and internet commercials as well as animated short films. I have also performed as a stand up and improv comedian and in these scenarios I use my voice in a very upbeat and energetic style.

Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects

While working in musical theater I was required to train in a variety of accents. Russian (I played Fyedka in Fiddler on the Roof), The Bronx (a role as Barnaby Tucker in Hello Dolly), Cowboy Drawl, (Played Slim in Oklahoma, as well as the character of Jim in I Love A Piano), Scottish (A radio commercial for a medieval festival) British (David Niven or Errol Flynn style).

My Voice Experience

My vocal training background includes everything from musical theater to professional studio recording for several different groups. I have done voice acting for several animated short films. These animated shorts required me to develop the vocal characteristics of the subject and work with the producers and animators to create the right sound for the character. I have also recorded for radio and internet commercials as well as other audio promotional material. Having my own recording studio with endless sound libraries and effects at my fingertips I have a limitless variety of sounds that I can create by manipulating the recorded audio.

My Training

4 years musical theater/Voice/acting training with Gloria Herauf (theater director for YCT) During those 4 years I attended several workshops on acting, rhythm, dance and diction. Most of my training has been on the job in the industry. I have worked on several independent film projects in the last few years and had a chance to receive training in studio sound engineering, character development and sound design. I have written feature songs as well as performed several VO characters in different film production. I am currently writing and producing a web series featuring a character I play named Chameleon. In this project I must assume differing roles from Hip hop, to smooth, to folk.

My Studio Equipment

I currently run a recording studio (Chameleon Records - Mocha Studios)! I have a variety of digital and analogue gear that I use for both the studio recording as well as the voice acting. The studio has a variety of mics from ribbons to tubes to condenser which brands include Neumann, Rode, Peluso, Royer, AKG, Shure, and AT. This mic variety allows a host of different sound dynamics to be recorded for different applications. Our sound libraries include samples from IK Multimedia, East West, and a variety of other Halion and VST libraries. Using Cubase as the host we can apply a variety of effects to any vocal to create unique characteristics. Mocha studios also maintains on hand a variety of digital and acoustic instruments for recording.

Additional Skills

I have worked with industry professionals where the standards were set and the expectations were outlined. As such I am capable of delivering a product that a client know exactly what they want. I am also an independent artist who has written and produced commercials, studio recordings, and a variety of other live and recorded products. In these scenarios I have had to think independently and creatively to develop ideas and characters where the guidelines are not so distinct. Whether a person knows what they want or are looking for someone who can create a product from a concept I can provide a variety of solutions.
