My voice is naturally deep and has been described to me as calming, trustworthy and soothing. I do not speak in higher tones as my voice will probably crack, but if this is desirable, then so be it.

Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects

Many people describe the mid-western US accent as 'textbook standard' English these days, which would make me a native 'textbook standard' English speaker.

I have worked with Australian and English counterparts for over 6 years and am able to mimic their accents and mannerisms with a degree of believability.

I also speak fluent Japanese (see 'education' section for references.) Accents and dialects range from crass and cheeky to professional presenter. I speak standard (Tokyo) Japanese on a daily basis and western (Kansai) Japanese when with friends.

My Voice Experience

My Training

I graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelors of Arts in Asian Studies with a focus on Japanese studies. I am a native of Michigan and English is my first and most proficient language.

I studied Japanese at the University of Michigan and Tokyo University, and recently passed received my 'ikkyuu' (1st-level) Japanese Proficiency certification. I have lived and worked in technical and business settings in Tokyo for seven years and plan to continue doing so. I have an active interest in studying and practicing various non-standard Japanese dialects.

My Studio Equipment

I have an array of keyboards, mixers, turntables, and more computer equipment than you can shake a stick (or anything else) at. Through friends I could obtain just about any audio equipment that would be necessary, but a Macbook will be my weapon of choice for the time being.

Additional Skills

I am a computer security professional and programmer by trade and can use industry-specific slang accordingly in both English and Japanese.
I have lived in Tokyo and traveled throughout APAC extensively, which lends breadth to my accent and believability to my colloquialisms.
