My Voice Experience
Once upon a time I as a writer for radio commercials, yet who would think that occasionally during production, and in spite of all our planning and scheduling of talent, we might be short one voice. Easy enough for me to get into character and follow direction.
I loved it, but sadly life can take another direction. While I did spend a period of time recording books for Braille Institute, practically speaking, corporate training paid a great deal more.
I have trained my own material, as well as materials developed by others, from small to very large companies across the US. I have also been a key note speaker at sales kick offs and seminars. Not surprisingly I have provided voice over for web-based training. The challenge is sustaining consistency without slipping into monotone while reading content that often enough is as dull as dirt.
I also have experience interviewing Holocaust survivors for the Shoah Foundation video recording project. This unscripted and emotional environment will always remaining one of my most rewarding experiences.
Numerous voice over workshops as well as vocal therapy after losing my voice due to a car accident. I am a writer and therefore cognizant of character and story development, and the voice behind the writing.
My Studio Equipment
Basic recording equipment.
I am a consultant focused on instructional design, development, and delivery. Self-discipline goes hand-in-glove with self-employed. Typically projects are from six weeks to eighteen months, and may include any aspect of small to very large projects.
Increasingly, I have developed scripts for web-based training, and frequently provide the voice over as well. I wouldn't mind skipping the writing part (although of course that experience has been invaluable when considering how the written word must transition to the spoken word).
