My Voice Experience
Working in radio as a creative writer for RDU 98.5FM I have written and consequently voiced countless ads. The benefit of working for an independent station is I have freedom to write some really crazy ads with weird and wonderful voices. I am also the voice of Canterbury Rugby Football Union which is involves a lot of high energy reads, and have worked extensively with Tandem Studios in Christchurch who use me a lot for radio advertisements and the occasional language learning aid. In Auckland I voiced many ads for TV and radio, one of note was the animated Maori character and general voice over for G Force Energy drinks. The Sitting Room also in Christchurch used me extensively for University enrollment campaigns. I also filled in for the 'Rebel Sport' guy which involved me having to basically jump around the booth to accomplish his insanely dynamic reads. I have also provided numerous voicings for Belmont Productions who film in house training videos as well as school oriented information.
My Training
All training I have received has been on the job, in the studios with some very kind and helpful studio engineers with a lot of patience. There's no better way to learn!
Training that has been invaluable to developing my style and helping with confidence is gaining my diploma in New Circus (Circoarts). This involved a lot of character work and performances in everything from corporate, school, street and cabaret entertainment. I studied drama at the University of Canterbury which was great for stage presence and of course delivery of voice and correct annunciation.
I have been singing professionally for 7 years, a lot in jazz but in a 5 piece pop/rock band also. I have also MCed numerous outdoors festival so while this is not voice work exactly, it involves speaking well, clearly and a large degree of spontaneity.
My Studio Equipment
Macbook Intel Core 2 Duo 2 GHz
Protools LE 8.0.5
Logic Studio 8
Adobe Audition 4.0
Moto 828 Firewire audio interface/preamps
AKG C 2000 B Condenser Microphone with Shock Mount.
Additional Skills
I have been working in the TV and radio industry for 9 years now, so have been the person infront of the mic/lens but also my jobs in production have allowed me to operate on the other side of things. I have experience from the very conceptualization of an advertising concept, developing it, producing it and editing the result. This is of course involves dealing with clients so I understand how to operate with them to achieve the best result as they're the ones who want bang for their buck!
With my vast experience in comedy, music, writing, voicing, acting (I was also lead in a movie called Last of the Living!), production, directing I believe I can offer a very wide range of skills and would love to submit an audition for your project.
