My Voice Experience

I started out in Speech and Drama also student debate team at Robinson High School in Tampa FL. I was always told I had great voice projection and clarity by my drama teacher. I was also the neighborhood DJ in West Tampa, my hometown. One summer I visited my relatives in New Smryna Bch,Fl. My cousin Earl was a Dj at the local youth center. That night I went to youth the center with my cousins Karen (Doll),and Brian (Briney)
Well Earl introduced me as his cousin from the big city of Tampa Bay, and asked me to spin a set, he chose the music of course. After all Earl was the Boss, and that was his nickname around town as well.
The next day Brian showed me his own Dj equipment at home, but it would not turn on, well he got mad and was about to throw the receiver away. Quickly I sprang into action, "Can I have it!?" I said, the damn thing was practically brand new from Radio Shack Realistic, don't remember the model number, the 70's was a long time ago.
After my vacation was over I came home with 2 Radio Shack tower spks and a receiver. I couldn't talk Briney out of the turn-table though, I had one anyway I just wanted two of them so I could be like Earl, Briney's brother. I put a 9vdc batter to the spks and got static that meant the speakers worked, but the receiver I took to Radio Shack only to find out it just blew a fuse. I continued to be one of the neiborhood DJ's. Later I joined the military and learned how to project my voice with clarity, and announciate. I later moved to Greenville, SC where I had my first voice test, everyone in the station rushed to the production studio to see who was that voice, I was a hit and got my own spot on the after dark show on WHYZ. "The Captain's Chair, was the name of my spot. My on-air personality was, Captain Suavee Le'Breque. The name was derived from being a Tampa Bay Buccaneer fan in the Carolinas. After a series of mis-management incidents the station was forced closed by the Greenville County Sheriff. The station underwent a major overhaul and became WCSZ the sportszone. Briefly I worked as an announcer, but decided the radio life was just not worth it so I got a new focus. Production work, and voice over.
