My Voice Experience
I fell into doing voice-overs with a phone call that was made to my place of business many, many years ago in New York City. The call was made in search of someone who could speak English and Spanish without an accent in either language. The project was a series of language books for Holt, Rinehart & Winston in New York City. That led to jobs with many other language book publishers at that time, such as: Random House, Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, Wiley, Caedmon, McGraw Hill and others.
My success in language books catapulted me into doing voice-over and on-camera commercials also. Because I went to acting school in the UK, New York City and Puerto Rico (not necessarily in that order) I was able make the transition easily. I moved to San Francisco and continued to do voice-overs, audio books and language books. I have since moved to Maine and continue to do voice-overs, language books and audio books.
While in New York City, I also was a member of a repertory theatre company for six years.
I suppose my biggest claim to fame is that 95% of the work I get is through recommendations. People I have worked for have recommended my work to their colleagues. And I have repeat clients that have known me for a very long time, some for over twenty years. I pride myself in giving quality performances, and in taking direction very well.
