Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects
My most convincing accent is Minnesotan/Midwestern. This usually comes up in a comedic way. Can also do Southern to some effect, comedic or serious.
My Voice Experience
Most of the voice projects I've done in the past happened when I lived in Paris for several years. I was part of a small community of English-speaking actors and expats.
My biggest job was producing and recording a non-fiction, politically-oriented audio book, done in a professional rented studio space.
I've narrated a training/informational video for a parts manufacturing company.
I've done a number of narration and vocal inserts for documentaries, that needed to be dubbed into English.
I've also played numerous characters for a regular "cartoon" segment on a radio show, done in an old radio play style, everything from mad scientist, to crazy villain, to hero, to narrator...
My Training
I've been stage acting since the age of 9, performing in many musical comedies. I've a BA in Theatre Arts, with a minor in Speech/Communcation from the University of Minnesota.
I've toured childrens theatre, and was active for a number of years with a theatre group in Woodland Hills, CA, as well as having sung and toured chorally. I was also heavily involved in an acting class in LA, which started out as a commercial copy class and improvisation, evolving into more serious scene work.
I've also done camera work, from short film to independents and features in LA, Rome, Paris, and New York.
I've taught acting, musical theatre, and comedy classes/workshops in Rome, Spain, and Paris.
My voiceover training came from Bob Bergen (who replaced Mel Blanc as the voice of Warner Bros., i.e. Porky, Tweetie, Bugs Bunny, etc.). Bob still currently teaches his voiceover workshop in Los Angeles.
My Studio Equipment
I currently have a home studio set up with the audio program Audacity, and an Audio-Technica AT2020 USB Condenser USB Microphone and headphones.
Alternately, I can use a professional studio and recording space in New York.
Additional Skills
I've had a number of jobs and careers throughout my life, and aside from directly acting, perhaps the most relevant voice-related job would have been customer service on the phone, which included cold calling and quoting from a script, to potential customers.
Most of the jobs I've held have been in the service-related, hospitality industries on some level. I'm currently a massage therapist, while pursuing my acting career in New York. I recently staged my cabaret show, where I sang a number of contemporary songs, with anecdotes and patter in between... A one-man-show of sorts.
Professionally, I'm flexible, great with people and can adapt well to just about any given situation to try to please a client.
I play well with others and never run with scissors.
