My Voice Experience

My broadcast career spans nearly 40 years with succesful morning shows in a number of cities. Currently, I'm the utility man with Clear Channel Radio in Portland, Oregon. I'm a published novelist (Read my work at www.deadlyduomysteries) and an award-winning commercial copywriter. I've acted in numerous productions during college and in community theatres including LEND ME A TENOR, THE GOOD WOMAN OF SEZUAN, and THE MOUSETRAP

My Training

Most of my voice-over skills were learned on the job in the "it has to be done yesterday" world of radio broadcasting. I also co-owned and ran "Some Stuff From Huff" a multi-track studio in Albuquerque, New Mexico. There I wrote, voiced and produced spots for radio, television and corporate presentations. I've succesfully transitioned into the world of digital audio and am accomplished with Cool Edit, Pro Tools and a number of other computer-based platforms.

My Studio Equipment

My radio station has multi-track programs including Cool Edit and Pro-Tools. I have access to an ISDN line if needed. Both recording programs have a large number of voice effects, compressions and other devices for molding the voice. The microphones are top broadcast quality. I'm able to email finished tracks to clients.

Additional Skills

Commercials and presentations I've written or co-written have won regional and national awards including one from the National Cable Marketing Association. I've also won blue ribbons from the Pacific Northwest Writer's Associations for my short stories and have been a finalist in the Rocky Mountain Gold Literary competition. I'm currently enrolled in classes to learn video shooting and editing on digital platforms. My wife and I teach writing classes and do literary editing on the side.
