Deep/whispery for TV promos, Guy Smiley or guy-next-door for commercials. Generally: smooth NPR-ish voice--baritone, comforting like a fuzzy sweater, hot chocolate, and warm fire. Given a script, can sound virtually identical to Univision announcer.

My Voice Experience
Working in the planetarium industry since 1991, give live shows in a dark room and have to entertain and convey detailed information in non-boring fashion. Have done radio promos, interviews with NPR, C-SPAN promo and am essentially fearless about trying new techniques with my voice.
My Training
Singing in multiple choirs, bands and solo since 1988. Planetarium presentations since 1991. Classroom teacher in various settings since 1991. One voice training course in college in 1991.

Additional Skills
Strong interest in music, education (especially science education), comedy. Extremely fond of Old Time Radio and Prairie Home Companion. Constantly trying to reproduce voices of NPR announcers, Muppet Show characters, operatic singers (baritones, sometimes tenors, sometimes basses).
