My Voice Experience
My first voice over experience came quite by accident when I met a guy at a Christmas party. We were talking about music and he said he owned a few pizza joints and would like to do a radio commercial. I said I'd do it and proceeded the following day. The concept was to create a Jimi Hendrix type lead character with a hypnotic musical groove. I wrote the copy with several characters highlighting each pizza based on the "ethnic name" for each. i.e. Mexican Pizza (mexican guy) - Italian Explosion (excited Italian guy) Hawaiian Pizza (surfer dude) and so on. 7 voices I believe. I recorded the music at Nevessa Studio in Woodstock which was very cool seeing the lead voice of the spot was Jimi. It came out great, the guy loved it and they aired it on several CT stations. For me, it was a great learning experience getting to create from conception to recording to production to mastering to transfers to listening in my car when it came on the radio. Since then, I've been all over the creative spectrum, performing, writing and recording. In that time I've had the opportunity to work in voice over production at Wager Studio and Sonic House Post in CT. Mostly tweaking copy, editing and keeping established clients in rhythm. Besides local commercials, most recently I've worked with well known drummer. My job was to be the MC and introduce the band members as if I was there interacting with the musicians and the crowd during a live recording. Currently, I am looking to entrench myself in the voice over industry and supply any and all services I am capable of.
My Training
There is truth in the saying "experience is the best teacher" and in my experience I have worked with, observed and have been taught by some extremely talented individuals. Some of which have impressive credentials and status in the recording industry. I have also directed programs and workshops in creative writing and music production in pre-k through high school levels. I found it insightful to the age bracket and very rewarding.
My Studio Equipment
for voiceovers I use a mac based digital recording system with various plug ins, a Presonus preamp and an AkG C414 for my main mic as well as an assortment of mics, instruments and amplification, in addition to a full project studio as needed.
Additional Skills
I have a strong background in sales. I have worked as a sales manager in a major music retail store and I have worked with very high end clientele at another establishment. Also, I am exploring multi media; writing, directing and editing music and instructional videos.
