My default voice is mid-range, middle class English with a warm-brown quality. I can take it higher or lower , younger or older. I can also work as "posher" or more "rough and ready".

Accents: I can "do" several regional English accents and Scottish, Irish and Welsh and South African. I also do a generic "Good Ol' Boy" American accent and a Spanish accent based on my, fairly poor, spoken Spanish.

My Voice Experience

I've used my voice talent as a voiceover for a student film, to voice a puppet in a puppet show, as background on a friend's podcast, to provide an ident for Virgin Radio, to read and discuss poetry on radio and playing a counsellor in a radio play.

My Training

Voice training formed part of the training I had in the seventies at Hockerill College studying Drama and Modern dance.

In addition, I graduated from Tony Allen's "Attitude" workshop in 2006, this included a lot of exercises on how to use the voice.

Additional Skills

As a standup comic and MC, I have to use my voice as part of a range of expressions to sway a live audience to feel how I want them and to laugh in the right places.

When I was Communication Manager in my full time job, I had to produce and deliver presentations and training material as well as writing afor and editing the in-house magazine. This gave me plenty of practice at delivering a message in a way to engage interest and in hitting deadlines.
