Merritt has more than 20 years of broadcast experience. He has worked for stations ranging from KKOB Radio in Albuquerque, KJRH TV in Tulsa and KRQE TV in Albuquerque. He is presently providing live traffic reports for WLOS TV in Asheville, NC (DMA 36) on a contract basis.

He has won numerous journalism awards from the Associated Press and the New Mexico Broadcasters Association and contributed to an Emmy Award for KRQE TV as Best Newscast.

Youngdeer is the former Host and Producer for the nationally distributed talk show Native America Calling, and is also a former college director for the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, NM.

This past season, he worked as an actor and narrator in the historical drama "Unto These Hills," a 2,500 seat venue in Cherokee, North Carolina.

In 2005, he established the classroom, studio and curriculum for the Cherokee Youth in Radio program at the Cherokee Youth Center, Boys & Girls Club in Cherokee, North Carolina.

He also produced the video documentary "Tsalagi Veterans" which was developed in conjunction with the North Carolina Historical Archives Military Collection Unit. And in 2006, Youngdeer directed one of four plays for the live broadcast of the National Audio Theater Festival.
