My name is Melody Johnson and I would like to thank you for taking the time to review my profile.

I have been reading novels to my students (and my own children) for 29 years. I can be warm and serious, flighty and ditsy, young and innocent, old and wise...whatever you are looking for in a female voice...I will strive to deliver.

I am a High School English teacher (13 years) and a Licensed Professional Counselor (20 years), and I will be happy to help you with revisions to your draft at no extra cost. I have an excellent voice. I can read with any emotion or expression that you would like to have in your finished project.

Being a professional counselor, my voice can be quite soothing, emotionally supportive, sympathetic, or even confrontational.

Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects

Being from Texas, I can give you a wonderful southern drawl. I can also speak with no discernable accent. I can speak seductively or innocently...straightforwardly or slyly. I can deliver any emotioan from distantly professional to angry and withdrawn, and everything in between. With practice, I can do whatever it is that you need done.

My Voice Experience

I am the mother of 9 (yes, nine) children. My oldest child is 29. I have been reading aloud to children since before my oldest child was born. I have 6 grandchildren. I read to them on a regular basis. I have been a special education and high school English teacher for 13 years. I read at least 4 novels per year to my students.

When we are reading a book in class, if I am going to be absent, I have to record the portion of the novel that is schedule for that day. I have to do this because my students complain if I have anyone else (even a professionally done recording) reads. I have heard comments such as, "She didn't do the cool voices you do!" "She read in a monotone and I fell asleep."

I do not have any professional voice over experience, but I have to say I am extemely experienced in reading with fluency, expression and enthusiasm. You won't find anyone that will work harder to give you an original product than I will.

My Training

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Certified Special Education Teacher, a Certified Secondary English Teacher, a Certified Cheerleading Coach, and a Certified School Counselor.

I have a B.S. in Human Services from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. I have an M.Ed. in Counseling and Human Development from Hardin Simmons Univeristy in Abilene, TX.

My Studio Equipment

I have a personal computer, Roxio and WMP. I can convert to MP3 and email anything.

Additional Skills

My youngest child is graduating from High School in 2011. I have been raising children for 29 years. I have been teaching in a public school setting for 13 years. I need a change. Reading with expression and enthusiasm is a talent that I have not yet utilized. I am now in a position to utilize this talent.
