My Voice Experience

I’m the voice of the award winning Darren Aronofsky film, “The Wrestler”. It is my voice that you hear as Mickey Rourke’s character prepares to do battle and enters the arena to “Randy ‘The Ram’ Robinsoooooonnnnn!” My voice over career started much like my part in that movie, by being in the right place for the right person to hear my voice.

By trade, I am a professional wrestling promoter and occasional wrestler. I began doing voice over work, in 2002 when our voice over announcer did not show up to work. The production team of Smart Mark Video, the world’s premiere distributor of non WWE wrestling, asked me if I could do it as I had “a great voice”. The next thing I knew I was getting phone calls from wrestling promoters around the country asking me to do voice over or ring announcing for them.

The word of “this wrestling guy with the great voice” apparently made it to Darren Aronofsky as I was asked to come in and audition for the role of announcer in his feature film. On set, the producers pulled me aside and told me that this should be my career. I was told I had “that voice” that made people respond as I willed. I began training with Chuck McKibben in Philadelphia, PA and was on my way. I have a few commercials under my belt and I am currently working on the pilot for a TV series. My Studio Equipment

I have a simple home studio that gives me great sound quality. I use a Sennheiser e835 microphone, to feed into a XENYX mixer, using a Composer Pro XL compressor to reduce background noises. I mostly edit my work with Cool Edit and can deliver it to you in many formats including wav or mp3.
