My Voice Experience

Have been involved in entertainment for 35 years, as a radio announcer, news presenter, DJ, vocalist, and bass guitarist, my voice has been helping me earn a living both full and part time. I've done some local TV and radio commercials.

In 1998, I was cast to be an employee spokesperson for a Gateway computer TV commercial by McCann-Erickson, New York. My commercial ran from June to November 1998 resulting in many sales for the company - I tested well in focus groups, and demonstrated consistency when I recorded voice-over updates.

My Training

Some theater in high school and college, both on stage and technical.

My primary on-mic training came from working at a college radio station, KAUR-FM in Sioux Falls. I later had on-air positions at KLYX AM-FM, KRSS AM, KSOO AM, and KPAT FM all in Sioux Falls between 1978 - 1984. Working at these stations, I had developed skills in producing commercials and news presenting - including writing some ad copy.

Although I decided to make a career change to the computer field, I still worked weekends as a musician, mobile DJ and karaoke host. In addition to my job responsibilities in technical support and IT departments, I had also made presentations and conducted training sessions for management and fellow employees at Gateway and other companies.

I am currently working as an entertainer for an entertainment company in South Dakota. I am a wedding & corporate event entertainer, karaoke host, and game show host.

My Studio Equipment

I have a home studio with a Allen & Heath Mixing Console and Shure microphones. These are connected to a Windows PC based computer of sufficient power to produce top-quality recordings. Having worked with digital audio since 1990, first on Macintosh, later on PCs, I'm familiar with digital editing concepts. I also have high speed internet access for audio file transfers.

Additional Skills

As well as singing in bars and clubs, I've also sung with symphony and church choirs. My communications experience as a licensed pilot and volunteer weather spotter (storm chaser) helps with producing realistic communications simulations regarding public safety or military radio traffic and aircraft operations.
