Voice Description

Very versatile; as well as my own voice (warm, friendly, RP) I can deliver many different accents, classes, styles, types, age-groups - often in the same recording session. I have also been used professionally to do impressions of well known people. In short, throw anything at me, and I will give it my all! This flexibility and experience means I am just as comfortable in a long session for a documentary as I am in the fast-moving, clock-watching arena of commercial recording.

My Voice Experience

Cartooney style Frenchman for Daily Mirror radio commercial promoting trips to France, clipped 1950's English accent for British Airways, ALL male voices for radio commercial for Metropolitan Police, Deep, educated American accent for Cinven venture capital radio commercial, camp caller seeking wine advice (McKibbins radio commercial), London DJ for trendy toiletries company, Anatomicals, (website), TV continuity work for Sky TV, Turner TV, BBC and Channel 4.

My Training

Educated at Harrow School, Harrow on the Hill, where I perfected my upper-class twit voices, I left with respectable A levels in English and Art, and became a "goffer" in a small London-based ad agency to train as a copywriter.

In my second job as a copywriter, I met fellow writer and amateur film maker, Phil Munnoch (aka Captain Zip!), and acted in several of his award-winning films.

Meanwhile, in my long career as an advertising copywriter, working for major London ad agencies lead me directly into voice-over work. Always the one to be 'wheeled on' to some nearby studio to do voice-overs for research material, I soon felt that the time was right to find an outside voice over agent to represent me. (And get paid!)

Some fourteen years later, I am still out there doing the work and adding to my list of characters, types and accents!

Additional Skills

As well as having extensive experience of writing commercials for radio and tv, I also have considerable experience of radio commercial production, including casting, directing, liaising with broadcast approval committees, and trafficing the material on to where it is needed.
