Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects
I live in Maine, so I can come up with that 'Down East' accent recognized for Coastal New England. I can also create other character voices that fit the intended part portrayed. From serious to fun, warm to loud, authoritative to submissive, I'm open to your suggestions.
My Voice Experience
I started my career in radio in 1982, and have worked for a few different radio stations over the years. With the exception for trying my hand at doing website work for about a year, I have been actively working in radio to present time. I have recorded commercials, promos, and website voiceovers. I am very familiar with recording equipment and the art of recording good sound.
My Training
Most of my training has been through my fellow co-workers, and listening to the big radio voices such as Paul Harvey, agency produced commercials and television voiceovers such as for movie trailers.
My Studio Equipment
In my home studio I have a MXL 2001-P Cardioid Condenser Microphone with a 1-inch diameter, gold-sputtered diaphragm that is 6 microns thick. The capsule is coupled through an electromagnetic screen to a FET preamp with a balanced transformer output. It has a single cardioid polar pattern and a frequency range of 30 to 20k Hz. The microphone is phantom-powered and has a S/N ratio of 80 dB referenced to 1 Pa, A-weighted; an LTO 8-channel mixing console with adjustable inputs and EQ trim knobs which are normally left at their flat settings unless special settings are needed for a project; a high definition audio card in my computer for capture and play back; software to record and edit tracks as well as add various special effects; and an RCA amplifier teamed up with a pair of Fisher Digital Compatible speakers with dual tweeter, dual midrange and ported 15 inch woofer.
Additional Skills
I have over 20 years of editing experience that includes using reel to reel tape with a grease pencil, razor blade, and splicing tape; and with today's digital tools it has never been easier or faster to make adjustments to a recording for the desired results. A great edit is one you can't hear.
