Voice Description

Articulate without stiffness or pretentiousness. I am especially effective for podcasts, books on tape, narratives -- anything that seeks to avoid the stereotypical, hyperventilated radio DJ approach. My goal has always been to deliver a script (or narrative) in such a way that the voice over quickly disappears to reveal the substance and emotion inherent in the text.

My Voice Experience

15 years as an award-winning on-air classical/jazz radio voiceover announcer/host for both commercial radio (in Kansas City, MO) and for National Public Radio via radio stations WBUR and WGBH in Boston, MA.

In-flight voiceover host for American Airlines Jazz Channels.

15 years at Bose Corporation. Scripted and produced voiceovers for demonstration compact discs, promotional videos and corporate on hold messaging.

My Training

Graduate Oberlin (Ohio) Conservatory. As Creative Director of Music and Sound Design at Bose Corporation, I directed a team to develop promotional voiceover materials (audio visual programs, demonstration audio CDs and narratives) to promote the sale of Bose loudspeakers and music systems world wide, including promotional compact discs for Porsche, Audi, Nissan, GM, Acura, Masarati and Mercedes

Additional Skills

To a listener, a good pair of loudspeakers will "disappear" to reveal the music. A good voice talent will "disappear" to reveal the substance and meaning of the script/text. The style, resonance, and musicality of a voiceover should serve as the quickest means of revealing the story being told, not as an end in itself. This is an ability I have honed for many years.
