My Voice Experience
Because of my jingle singing, I have from time to time (as recently as last week) done voices for radio and television advertising for the last 30 plus years.
My Training
Attended DePaul University as a music major. Studied music privately with various teachers from 1967 to 1975. Studied voice with a accomplished jingle and voice over artist named Alma Balier, here in Chicago from 1975 to 1977. I still study a method written by a fellow named Stoker; that I acquired from her during that study.
My Studio Equipment
I have a Dell Dimension 9100 Dual core processor, on which I run Cubase, Wave Lab, Wave Pad, Band in the Box, and many other audio related software applications. All of these provide me with all the necessary digital "outboard" gear to produce high quality recordings.
I use a Presonus Firepod as my preamplifier and sound card in the system.
I variously use a Rode NT1-A, Alesis AM-61, and other microphones with and without a Studiomaster 8x4 mixing console.
Additional Skills
I built a recording studio many years ago, and I have recorded in the significant CHicago studios throughtout my career. (Universal, CRC, Streeterville, Hinge, Earhole, Steve Yates, Pumpkin, River North) Some of these are still in operation. I have received advice from engineers like Bruce Swedien (Universal), Chris Sabold (CRC), and various other audio professionals, on the best gear to have for home voice production.
