Voice Description

My voice is rather deep and authoritative-sounding. I have been told by students and colleagues that my voice sounds like that of Harrison Ford. I can make my voice sound professional and authoritative as well as sexy and seductive.

I am a native speaker of English, and I speak German, French, and Dutch at an advanced level. I can do German and French accents in English. I have intermediate competence in Danish and Swedish. I can read aloud from written scripts in Spanish and Italian, but I do not speak those languages.

My Voice Experience

I have recorded literary passages and dialogues for use as listening and dictation prompts in a number of standardized testing programs. For these projects, the emphasis was on attaining maximal clarity and distinctness of pronunciation. I also had to produce the spoken versions of the texts at several different rates and with several different distributions of pauses, so that I obtained practice in slowing down and speeding up my speech production on command.

My Training

I took a class on voice overs at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. Beyond that class, my training has been entirely of the on-the-job type that I have described above.
