My Voice Experience
My first voice venture on stage was given to me in 6th grade when I presented our entire school system to a live and intent audience of several hundred teachers at a Progressive Education Ass'n annual meeting. I even wrote the apx. 5-minute speech, which I memorized.
From then on, speaking in public was a given; I had the voice for it, and enjoyed greeting, informing and persuading audiences to enjoy/act on, and even laugh occasionally about whatever I was presenting. I guess I was an actor in public speaker's clothing.
My Training
Throughout my school years, and in amateur theater as an adult, I sang or had small speaking parts in public performances. For me, learning voice techniques came from my background as a business/creative writing career. I always have read aloud everything I write to make sure the material has a "voice" the reader can "hear" through the printed word. It's important to know the make-up of one's audience -- how come they came to listen/read.

Additional Skills
Many years as an advertising executive has made me a "fast take" in learning a client's business or service so that I can speak or write about it with conviction. Thus, I am entirely coachable.
My college major in advertising/journalism made me a stickler for correct English usage and grammar. Also, as the Director of several non-profit organizations dependent on volunteers to serve, I learned to live my days with a smile on my fact and in my voice.
