Voice Description
Feminine voice with a soft/lower tone, very good for narratives, audio books, and voice overs where a smooth sound is requested.
Can also sound intellectual, for commentary, or when reading something of a serious/professional/scientific/medical nature.
If requested my voice can also be very animated and upbeat, without taking on a "ditsy/girly" sound.

My Voice Experience
As an prolific, internationally published/award winning poet, many of my poems have been recorded onto audio books - by other people of my publisher's choosing, for sale. I "do" however record many of these same poems personally, to be given to not-for-profit agencies, such as homeless shelters, our troops over seas, and prison libraries. I also have recorded many of my own children's stories - that I have not published yet - that I give away at children's book readings at Barnes and Noble, public shools in my area, and children's book readings at two local public library. These cd's or tapes I do not charge a price for, because they are in communities that do not have the budget for them, or for places/institutions that also have no budget/can't afford them. I don't believe that literature should only be for the affluent or for those who can read. I have even stronger feelings that these should be free for children under the same circumstances.
I auditioned to be a local internet corrospondent for national but low-key news corporation. I was given the position, at the time however it did not fit in with my personal and work plans.
While working for five years aboard Norweigen Cruise Lines and Royal Caribbean Cruise lines, as a gemologist/jeweler, I gave a seminar each cruise to audiences topping 1500 on how to buy gems/jewelry/watches on shore. My seminar was recorded by both companies to use as a training video for jewelers to use on both fleets of ships. In this campacity onboard, I also gave daily, morning reports over the ship's loudspeaker to passengers up to 3500 as to the gift shop's daily specials.
In my career as a gemologist, I have held many training seminars to fellow workers/peers, numbering 200+, in numerous countries.
I am an ex-model (print ad and runway), at 42, I still have a very attractive look - more of a classic Miss America sort of way, or attractive career woman than a "baby doll".
I feel very comfortable in front of the camera and live audiences - seen or just heard.
My Training
I have had no formal training, the voice work that I have had to do came naturally to me - in my jobs it needed to be done, and I did it well enough for every company I have ever worked for, to ask me to give their lectures/speeches/seminars......etc.
In the high end jewelry/watch business and aboard the cruise ships, I was always speaking to intelligent, informed, savy adults.
Part of my success in speaking, I think, has been not to have a fear of being heard, being loud enough in volumn, soft enough in tone and slow enough to be easily heard and understood..........also to have a natural laughter in my voice when appropriate..........I have always been able to hold my audiences captive/taking notes/laughing with me............just a very easy association between myself and the audience, like the "wall" didn't exist.
I am at a point now in my life where I would really like the challange of doing this more, possibly joining some unions.
My Studio Equipment
I have a Tascam personal/portable studio, along with a regular table stand mic, I have a headset mic and a zoom mic(to capture nature sounds, or target in on a speaker without picking up much other noise).
I also have a Sony "Handy Cam" with remote, and tripod with remote. For this I also have several mics, the basic hand held reporter looking mic, a zoom mic on the camera to capture just "my" voice with very little backround sound, and two mics on stands - one that sets on a table, one that stands.
Additional Skills
I have for many years now worked as an author, giving up my career as a gemologist to persue my art. As such, I do many open mic nights where I read my poetry, or "spoken word" nights where story telling is the thing. I enjoy hearing and learning from other speakers at these venues as well. None of these are paid jobs, I do them for the love of it.
