Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects
I know a lot about American Accent (this is what I learned when I was in Call center). Just a little practice and I can speak with a bit of a British accent. Of course, different regional accent in the Philippines like Kapangpangan accent, Visayan accent, Batangas, Ilonggo, Mindanao accent and the like.
My Voice Experience
My voice over experience satarted when I was in Senior High School. There was aschool program when the group accidentally needed somebody to entertain the audience while waiting for the performers. Luckily, everyone knows that I am a school champion in Oratorical and Story telling contest, so what we did, I pulled a story book from the library and entertained the audience. It was then when I discovered that I can do different characters through my voice. From then on, I was always appointed by the school to be the master of Ceremonies in different programs. But of course, my voice performance depends on the occassion. I made it formal and well modulated for beauty pageants, make it thin, squeeky and fast for children's program and make it casual for some casual occassions.
Now I am working as a teacher. I apply my talent through short story telling, puppetry, stage acting, being the master of ceremonies and through teaching. I always give my students variety of voice depending on my mood when I teach to catch their attention and to ensure learning on theri part.
My Training
I attended an acting workshop when I was in College that was sponsored by our community parish. Though it was believed to be an acting workshop, however voice projection and voice performance was tackled.
I graduated with a degree as Bachelor of Arts major in Communication Arts at St. Paul College of Manila. This is where I learned more about voices when we had the Radio Production as one of the major subjects.
I may not have formal training though, but I can say that I can deliver an excellent performance as a voice talent.
My Studio Equipment
I don't own a studio and I have no knowledge about audio engineering. What I have is just a set of computer (with headset only) in my parents' house.
Additional Skills
Currently I work as a teacher as I mentioned, and I guess that all my talents and skills in teaching such as acting, voices with facial expression, skills in speaking with accent, projection are useful for me to pursue a career as voice talent. I heard my voice over the microphone several times and I do believe thatI am good.
