Script Details

Welcome everyone to Youth Mentoring’s top secret R&D labs here in beautiful, sunny Los Angeles.

We’re here with Andrew and Joshua. Are you guys excited to find out about our newest invention?

Hold your horses! I love your enthusiasm, but there are a couple of things we have to go over first.

We here at Youth Mentoring believe the most powerful way to empathize with another person is through the magic of touch. Touch is a wonderful, universal technology that transcends even the mightiest of language or cultural barriers.

So are you ready to learn the secrets of The Hug?

Wait - Joshua No!

Sorry folks, little technical difficulties.
Looking stylish boys, here we go.
First, one of you needs to initiate the hug.
Andrew, lift your arms out from your torso to invite Joshua to the hug.

Joshua, if you choose to accept, step toward Andrew and mirror his position.
Perfect, you guys are doing great.
Next, we must introduce the crucial element - TOUCH.
Andrew, take a step toward Joshua and, beginning with one hand, wrap your arm around him.
There we go. Now, you do the same, Joshua - woah, you’re getting the hang of it.
Now, just follow through with the other hand aaand... embrace.

Release! There you go - you’ve just completed a hug! See? Nothing to it.
How do you feel?

Join Andrew & Joshua in the Youth Mentoring 20-second hug challenge.
