Project Main Details
Virginia Collins is not what she appears to be. By all outward appearances the successful uptown psychiatrist is just another beautiful dame who hires a private investigator to find her missing husband: a weird little man who makes fancy umbrella drinks and dresses like something out of an old gangster movie. Collins hides her real motives, along with her tragic past in order to win the affections of Raffy Rheinhardt, a cynical PI with an equally tragic history; a long forgotten shared incident resulting in damaged psyches and dead bodies.
Caught in the middle is the stunning Charlene (Charlie) Coffin, heiress to a distillery fortune, the remainder of which is The Coffin Building that houses the bizarre Dystopia Bar and the office of R.R. Rheinhardt. Despite being Raffy’s landlord, Charlie works with Raffy as his assistant, not just because she finds the work exciting; but also because she loves him, an issue that doesn’t go down well with the disturbed blonde psychiatrist client. 2016-09-02 16:20:12 GMT 2016-09-12 12:00:00 (GMT -05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada) Yes (click here to learn more about ) Closed 4 4 0 direct invitation(s) have been sent by the voice seeker resulting in 0 audition(s) and/or proposal(s) so far. I knew she was trouble the minute she opened the office door. She was beautiful. More than beautiful really… transcendent.
One of those women men can’t resist, even if they try. She was destined to be my rival, and a problem for Raffy, my boss. He loves me I know, even though he resists the impulse to show it. But she was different, and she knew it. He wouldn’t be able to resist those sad pleading liquid blue pools that passed for eyes; and that demanding body that craved attention. The Veronica Lake hairdo and Katherine Hepburn pantsuit gave the impression of something old wrapped in a new veneer: it was understated and sensual at the same time; it was exotic… and dangerous.
She smiled at me as if to say, ‘may the best psychopath win.’
I ushered her into Raffy’s office where she coiled herself into one of my great grandfather’s antique Art Deco chairs. Raffy joined her in the matching period piece. I watched in awe at her performance: she had Raffy wrapped around her finger in seconds. She leaned in close, almost whispering her sad familiar tale. Her husband had gone missing.
Now you may think… just another boring mundane cliché of a case: a pipsqueak of a husband who had too much of a good thing, and when the intoxication wore off, escaped to more secure less exotic pastures. That’s what you might think… but you’d be wrong. Dead Wrong!
