We are the University of Maryland Rehabilitation & Orthopaedic Institute. A lot of people probably remember us as Kernan Hospital. But things have changed, and so has our name. And now that we are UM Rehab & Ortho, we have so much more to offer.
We are Maryland’s largest provider of inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation providing high touch care that is also high tech.
We take pride in our outstanding orthopaedic surgery, sports medicine and joint replacement…and we have rehab teams focused in four areas – (1) stroke and neurological diseases, (2) spinal cord injuries, (3) traumatic brain injury and (4) our comprehensive medical rehab unit where we care for amputation, transplant, and cardiac surgery patients.
As one of the top stroke rehab hospitals in Maryland, we help stroke patients regain their strength, balance, speech and swallowing ability.
Our interdisciplinary team helps amputee patients regain their independence through training and prosthetic care.
And, we are the only facility in Maryland to offer the ReWalk system, allowing patients with spinal cord injury to stand and walk for the first time in years.
We also offer a range of support services including psychiatric, wound care, and support groups for both patients and caregivers.
Through our Adapted Sports Program, patients can participate in wheelchair basketball, rugby, golf, and scuba diving.
We even have our own pool specifically designed for Aquatic Physical Therapy.
Research shows that patients treated in a rehab facility like UM Rehab & Ortho live longer, have fewer repeat visits to the ER…and get home from the hospital faster than at Skilled Nursing Centers or Nursing Homes.
At UM Rehab & Ortho, you can expect the newest therapies, guided by the latest research, located where you live. Find out more today.
Nobody can help you recover like we can.
Please note that you should only use the script or your recording of it for auditioning purposes. The script is property, unless otherwise specified, of the voice seeker and it is protected by international copyright laws.
