Script Details

As with everything we do at Kansas State University, our compensation philosophy and approach is designed to help K-State achieve our 2025 vision.

We need to attract, retain, and reward high performing employees.
Great, how do we do that?

One way is to offer compensation that is competitive with other markets by comparing K-State’s pay to the pay of other similar employers. This includes other universities or when applicable, local, regional, or national employers.

We do everything we can to compare apples to apples.
So K-State compares research jobs to other research jobs, accountants to other accountants, and IT jobs to other IT jobs.

We specifically look at the duties, knowledge, skills, and abilities it takes to do a job and compare it to the same knowledge, skills, and abilities in the market.

We never compare just based on a title. Our salary surveys give us data for hundreds of similar positions so we have the facts to compare.

Based on our compensation philosophy, we want to pay salaries that are market equitable, so how does this work? Let’s look at an example.

Let’s assume we want to find pay and title for a position…….
