The Mystery of Mile Marker Twenty One Dot Three ZD938452
This is a story we created for a new Tap Room opening. It is a mythical story that creates a legend around the location of the establishment. It will be used on the website and other venues. And, perhaps, will be shortened into commercials. It should be delivered in "storytelling" mode with a pretty thick Irish brogue.

A History of the Strange and Mysterious Occurrences at Mile Marker 21.3
In the 1820s, some businessmen had the gumption to build a canal from New Haven to Massachusetts, cutting a swath right through Southington and the Farmington Valley. From day one, the canal laborers were an odd sort, a tapestry of rapscallions, profligates, debtors and lost souls. Among them were a band of young Irish lads who had cut their teeth on the Erie Canal. They were different than the others, aloof and secretive, going off on their own at night, yet returning every morning at the crack of dawn. The other laborers grew curious – and suspicious -- about this band of young men, one night secretly following them. Hiding in the bushes, they observed as the Irish lads donned their kilts, took turns on the bagpipes and danced the night away in a little clearing in the woods – not too far from Canal mile marker 21.3 -- all the while chugging a frothy ale out of a huge wooden cask.
So enthralled were the other laborers with the nighttime frolics of the young Irish lads, they returned every night to silently observe the ritual. On one particular night, the young Irish lads saw them and quickly scattered off, leaving their cask of ale behind. The laborers looked around, fearing an ambush, then took some of the mugs and helped themselves to a sip of the mysterious ale. It was the most wonderful ale they had ever tasted. They chugged again and again and again. It was more than a hearty brew with a crisp bite, it was a magical elixir, filling them with a frothy robustness and an impassioned fire.
