Project Main Details

Ten for One Project
This is a short video for a company that will be planting trees for families in Africa. For every 8,333 text messages that are sent, they will plant a tree. This video will talk about the program. I asked the client to describe what the voice was like, and they said they could hear with Morgan Freeman voicing it. So, the voice should sound caring, reputable, trusting.

Script Details

Below is the full script. I left in the (visuals) so you can see what will be on screen.

(Clinging sound is heard, it’s an axe driving into a tree in the forest. Each cling produces a better view of the axe driving deeper into the log. The tree falls)

Narrator: It was a sad way to watch a tree die. A sad day to receive a text message that the whole forest…would be gone.

(Shows person holding up phone with text. A decimated forest can somewhat be seen in the background)

Narrator: “If only texting could change things.” I thought to myself. If only a message could do something, grow something.

Narrator: Something that would give life instead of take it away.

(Show the phone in the person’s hand transform into a seed.)

Narrator: Suddenly, I saw a seed. At first it was small, infantile, but as time passed it pierced through the soil, absorbed the light coated rain, and ripened underneath the sun’s warming light.

(Show the seed being planted in the ground by human hands as the sun moves in the sky. When it says “over time it peaked” tree plant sprouting from the soil as what is mentioned above happens.)

Narrator: I watched the tree tremble and turn as its base thickened. Higher and higher it traveled into the sky as messages fed its roots and gave it life. The texts flourished and another seed was planted, another grew, and another, then another!

(Shows seeds falling into the earth and sprouting new trees around the main one.)

Narrator: And after the moon had faded and gone, shaking in the wind, hanging by the young tree’s branches, a piece of fruit(stop music)…held strong. (start music after saying that)

(As the scene is being described above, show the moon fade away as the sun comes into view. Through the clouds the light and the wind travel over the hills, then the image is fixated on the tree that reveals something holding on, and it’s the fruit.)

Narrator: Taken from the tree by human hands and dispersed among the many, this fruit gave meaning. It sparked a new hope. The seed not only grew a tree that would restore the atmosphere, it produced sustainable life.

(Show the human hand take the fruit from the tree. Apple preferably. Then show villagers looking at the apple in the hand. Show it being dispersed among a crowd. The tree/trees are surrounded by dead grass and open plains.)

Narrator: And as the messages grew, more fruit bloomed from the branches. Farmers appeared and trained the villagers. The trees multiplied, and the once impoverished people became a community rooting deep into the soil.

(Show the fruit growing on the branches. Show the famers grabbing the fruit and teaching the people. Show the trees growing one by one. And somehow show the people becoming a community rooting deep into the soil.)

Narrator: For every one-tree texting saved, ten were planted in its place. Fruit bearing trees, of all kinds, born to grow and change the lives of people. So as the messages reached higher, the people extended their roots, they broadened their branches, they became what they were not…a forest, that would not be ripped from the surface.

Narrator: It was when I found IRIO and discovered Ten For One that I realized this vision was true, it’s all...real. Texting really does…change things.

(Show IRIO and Trees For The Future logos again in illustrative end credit)
