Script Details

Bugcrowd’s platform, Crowdcontrol, connects your applications and security team with thousands of talented and trusted hackers from all over the world to proactively identify and fix vulnerabilities in your applications.

It all starts by creating your program brief in Crowdcontrol. Think of this as your way to communicate to the security researcher community all the details relating to what targets you want to test - how to access them - what to focus on - and any other details you want the crowd to know about prior to getting started.

Once your brief is built, it’s time to engage the crowd in either a public or private crowdsourced engagement. With a public program your brief is visible to any researcher on Crowdcontrol, giving you the ability to put thousands of eyes on your application. While with a private program you will enter an invite only engagement with a smaller, vetted, and more focused group of researchers.

In both engagement models, Crowdcontrol attracts the right type of talent to your program based upon the types of targets you need tested.

Once your program brief is defined, Crowdcontrol facilitates the testing of your applications. When vulnerabilities are identified by researchers, they are screened by Crowdcontrol’s triage engine which removes all out of scope and duplicate submissions, so that you can focus on the important stuff that needs a closer look.

When vulnerabilities reach your team, all the information reported about the bug is transcribed in your vulnerability inbox that lets you know what was found, how it was found, and the necessary steps to reproduce the issue. If you need more information from the researcher, simply communicate with them through the activity stream to gather more information so you can get to the root of the issue quickly and validate the bug faster.

Next, the validated vulnerability is assigned a priority level and moved to a “needs to be fixed” status. At this stage, Crowdcontrol kicks off a ticket to your development team letting them know what was found and the urgency surrounding the findings. All that’s left for you to do it is reward the researcher for a job well done.

Crowdcontrol takes care of all the payments and makes market rate suggestions on the appropriate reward to keep researchers engaged and motivated. If activity becomes stale, or new updates are pushed into your applications, Crowdcontrol kicks into action and makes sure your best participants are re-engaged, and new sets of eyes are brought into the testing mix.

Crowdcontrol...the all-in-one platform for harnessing the collective creativity of thousands of trusted hackers from all over the world to make your applications more secure.
