Southern Folksy Teenage Male Voice ZD1072896
This is for the part of YOUNG BEAR. The voice should sound like a young Southern, Folksy, teenage boy, but could be voiced by a female as well. This project is for voicing the characters of a live animatronics display. The delivery needs to be clear and on the slow side to allow the mechanical operation of the character to stay in sync. This is a full buyout in perpetuity for usage in a live Southern Forestry Diorama to be used during the holidays. This is for the voice of "Young Bear" who is part of five story segments featuring conversations between Young Bear and Bucky. These two characters have a conversation about how they and other animals prepare for winter. Set Description: A snowy scene resembling a woodland in the southern Appalachian mountains. Features coniferous trees, bare deciduous limbs and a variety of native animals in addition to the three speaking characters. Momma bear (with cubs surrounding) is situated outside a cave to the far left side of the set. Young Bear and Bucky are positioned to the right side of the set. This is one of five scripts with the total amount of copy to be around

This scene starts with an introduction from Mama Bear which sets up each scene. Young Bear : (OUT OF BREATH) Bucky! Oh, Bucky, I’m so glad I found you! What is all this white stuff?! And, where is everybody?! I can’t find some of my old friends from summer, and the ones I can find are all doing crazy things! Those squirrels are scurrying ‘round, Shelly the turtle up and disappeared, and my buddy Wilma Warbler flew off last week and hasn’t been back since! Bucky: Calm down young friend. I know this is your first winter on your own. I’ll explain to you what is happening and where all your friends are. You see all those nice people there (motions to audience) I rekcon’ they’ll help too. Will you help us everyone? PAUSE Young Bear : Oh, that’s sure sweet of you, it’s just all too much to bear on my own! Bucky the Deer : You’re welcome, Bear. First off, the white stuff you mentioned is snow. When it is cold outside snow falls from clouds instead of rain. Young Bear : Snow, huh? It’s very pretty, but very cold! Hey, I smell, er- I mean see our friend Skunk! Hey there, Mr. Skunk! (no reply) You all see him, right?! (motions to audience) PAUSE Bucky: Don’t pay him no mind. He’s too busy to come say hello because he’s stuffing himself with as much food as he can. It’s his way of getting ready for winter. Young Bear : What a stinker. I’ve been doing the same thing since the leaves went and changed colors. My momma always told me to eat lots and lots of acorns in the fall. Bucky: Well, momma always knows best, right kids? (indicate audience) Young Bear : She sure does. I sure wish she were here with me right now. I don’t even remember cold and winter. Bucky: That’s because she made sure you were cozy and sleeping soundly all winter long. That’s called hibernation. Young Bear : Hibernation, huh? Big words make me sleepy. Bucky: That’s the idea, Bear.
