Sarcastic Owls 
We're looking for either one voice to do both characters - NARRATOR and CHARACTER or separate voices to do one each.
The NARRATOR is normal, corporate friendly. A "real" person giving genuine advice and information in a friendly way.
The CHARACTER is a sarcastic take on the training. They are pompous, over-bearing and sarcastic. It's important that you're clearly sarcastic but not so much it puts the audience off. It can't be too harsh (no, I don't know exactly what that means either).
I've left the visuals instructions in the script - don't read them out - just the obviously scripted bits labeled NARRATOR and/or CHARACTER.

Script Details

[Visuals] Big Owl looking at this proudly. Little owl adds before ‘GREAT’, ‘NOT SO’

NARRATOR: Coaching can happen anywhere and everywhere – and it’s everyone’s responsibility to coach. Many of us believe that effective coaching leads to a high performance culture; there are also many different interpretations and assumptions of how to do this well. Under the pressures of our day to day work, it is easy to put the disciplines of real time coaching and feedback to one side or simply fall into some bad habits.

NARRATOR: Number 1 What’s your intention when giving feedback?

[Visuals] The sound of a door SLAMMING. The words “AFTER THE MEETING…” appear onscreen. At bottom of screen have ‘Scene 1’
[Visuals] FRAME 1 – two owls walk down a hallway, the big one has steam coming out of it and its wings are up in frustration. The smaller one looks deflated. A word box says, “IT DIDN’T GO GREAT. THE CLIENT IS LEFT FEELING UNDERWHELMED…”

CHARACTER: We’ve all had frustrating client meetings. And it’s even more frustrating when a member of the team didn’t really contribute. And it keeps happening, again and again. Best thing to do is let them know how you feel….

[Visuals] FRAME 2 – “Ten minutes later” the little owl is sat nervously on a chair whilst the big owl looms over him. The big owl has a speech bubble that says, “LET ME GIVE YOU SOME FEEDBACK.”

CHARACTER: They weren't properly prepared. The slide deck wasn’t right. They made some pretty naive comments…perhaps it’s time to get a few frustrations off your chest.

[Visuals] FRAME 3 – the little owl is slumped in the chair with the big owl pointing at a white board with WHY YOU ARE USELESS written on it. The big owl has a word balloon saying “AND ANOTHER THING…”

CHARACTER: It’s the perfect opportunity to teach your coachee some important lessons ;-)

[Visuals] FADE TO BLACK. The following words appear for a reflective pause:

NARRATOR (title): Engage & Build Trust
 Awareness is curative. Give feedback with the intention of raising awareness to support your coachee in their performance and development
 Time your feedback for highest motivational impact
 Feedback is not about assessment or telling people how to do it; it’s about awareness raising

NARRATOR: You might engage a coachee by sharing some well-timed feedback “…It seemed as though the client lost confidence in you in the meeting. I’d like to work with you so we do better next time”. “What were your own reflections about the meeting?” “What was going on for you?”

NARRATOR: Number 2 How helpful is your feedback, really?

[Visuals] The sound of people sitting down. The words “PROJECT DEBRIEF…” appear on screen.
[Visuals] FRAME 4 – the owls are sat at a table across from each other. They have a laptop between them that the big owl is operating with PROJECT DEBRIEF written on it.

CHARACTER: As a coach, project debriefs are another great opportunity to extol some wisdom.

[Visuals] A word balloon appears from the big owl “YOU’VE DONE OK, BUT I NOTICED THAT…”

CHARACTER: You can deliver great advice like “you’re doing good but you just need more gravitas, you know, some executive presence.” And, “Next quarter how about you sell some more work? That’s the way to success!”

[Visuals] FRAME 5 – the big owl is lent back in his chair looking at the ceiling, wings behind his head and a smug expression on his beak, with a word balloon that says, “It’s as simple as that.” The little owl is rolling his eyes and has a series of question marks hovering over his head.

CHARACTER: This kind of advice is priceless to someone making their way in the firm. Give them the big picture, they can figure out the details.

[Visuals] FADE TO BLACK. Introduce the following words for a reflective pause:

NARRATOR (title): Explore Possibilities
NARRATOR: You might explore with some observations and questions like “I noticed that you withdrew from the client conversation. I know you intend to build a relationship with this client. How can you be at your best next time?” “What might you do differently?” “What can I do differently to help you in that?”

NARRATOR: Number 3 How comfortable do you feel exploring the unknown?

[Visuals] The sound of someone knocking on a door. The words “THE FOLLOW UP…” appear onscreen.
[Visuals] FRAME 6 – the little owl is entering the big owls office with the word balloon “I just had a few follow up questions from the feedback you gave me…” The big owl is asleep with his talons on his desk next to a mug with “WORLD’S BEST COACH” written on it.

CHARACTER: Of course sometimes people will seek out more of your wisdom – and who could blame them. It’s important to keep an open dialogue.

[Visuals] FRAME 7 – the little owl is lent forward on the desk, earnestly wanting to develop. The word balloon says, “I’D LIKE TO EXPLORE WITH YOU HOW I CAN DEVELOP MORE GRAVITAS” Whilst the big owl has opened his office window and is flying out of it with the word balloon, “Sorry, something’s come up!”

CHARACTER: You can’t be expected to have all the answers! I’m sure they’ll figure it out on their own.


NARRATOR (title): Encourage Application

NARRATOR: You could encourage by asking questions like: “Sure, tell me what it’s like for you when you’re with a client. When have you felt most in flow with a client?” “It sounds like you are getting clearer on what you would like to do differently in future, when will you try that out?”

NARRATOR: Obviously, these three scenarios are a bit of fun. However, coaching when done well can really help individuals to unleash their potential – which in turn grows our firm.

NARRATOR: As a coach, be there and be curious – the 3 E’s – Engage, Enquire, Encourage. Stay tuned into the conversation about kick-starting a coaching culture in the firm.

[Visuals] Owl appears in the middle, Looney Toons style and says,
NARRATOR and CHARACTER: “That’s all this time folks!”
