Script Details

Main Narrator: Upon leaving the Earth there's an instant global consciousness that shakes the very soul.
But we have stopped going...
We need to go back. We need to reach even further.
Collins (Narration): We are gliding across the world in total silence. Absolute stillness. A motion of stately grace, which makes me feel godlike, as I stand erect in my sideways chariot - cruising the night sky.

Gargarin (Narrator/Russian): Of all the nights I have seen in my lifetime, none was remotely comparable to the night in space. And I have never forgotten it. Seeing night fall so swiftly, and stars blindingly bright, and the cosmic dawn instantaneous and magical!

Kovalynok (Narrator/Russian): After an orange cloud formed from a dust storm in the Sahara, and rained on the Philippines, I understood that we are all sailing in the same boat.

Ed White (Narrator/American): Space is a black vacuum that goes on for billions of light years and in the midst of this black airless vacuum is life, creation, and color, and refreshment.  Looking back at the whole ecosystem at once, and there it is.  It is home.  And it is our planet.

Russel Schweikart (Narrator/American): I'm not the same man, none of us are.  I completely lost my identity as an American astronaut, I felt apart of everyone and everything, sweeping past me below.

Tom Stafford (Narrator/American): You don't look down at the world as an American, but as a human being.

Sergey Volkov (Narrator/Russian): I felt a lightness in my soul that you can't feel on the Earth.  Actually, I felt love for all the inhabitants of Earth.  I just wanted to love them all.

William Pogue (Narrator/American): The view of the Earth was enthralling, if not downright soul-stirring.  It was truly like being on top of the world, and the scene was magnificent and breathtaking.

Yury Glazkov (Narrator/Russian): After I returned from space, my thinking changed.  To put it simply, I felt kinder to people.

Sigmund Jahn (Narrator/German): Only when I saw the Earth from space in all its ineffable beauty and fragility did I realize that humankind's most urgent task is to cherish and preserve it for future generations.

Oleg Makarov (Narrator/Russian): Within seconds of attaining Earth orbit every cosmonaut, without exception, uttered the same confused expression of wonder and delight.  No one has been able to restrain his heartfelt wonder at the enthralling panorama of the Earth!

Senator Bill Nelson (Narrator/American: Perspective changes.  You look back at the Earth and you don't see the political divisions, you don't see the ethnic and cultural and religious divisions that has so often caused man to fight and hate.  You see one globe, one creation, and it's ours.
