PNCT Ready ZD881110
As it prepares for the arrival of post-panamax ships, PNCT is facing the biggest challenge in its history: expanding its operation so that it can move more than a million additional containers a year. While it continues to operate one of the busiest ports on the East coast, the team at PNCT is clearing more than a hundred acres of land, installing new gantry cranes, new handling equipment, a new railyard, and much more. In this three-minute video, PNCT Ready, we trace the rich history of this historic port, its dramatic transformation for a new era of shipping, and its crucial role in the economic health and well-being of our nation.
In this video the story of PNCT’s transformation is set to one of the most dramatic and thrilling masterpieces in classical music: the Finale of Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite.
This piece is almost akin to a political commercial - think Army recruitment - very Americana, proud.

Mature, salt-of-the-earth. Deep, rich, friendly voice, evoking a bit of Wilfred Brimley. Very American, patriotic, down-home. Here is a link to a video my client has referenced for type of voice: http://www.columbia-group.com/, , Voice will go over Finale of Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite
people were using boats to move goods from one place to another.
Back then, the supply chain was short. But it grew through time. New nations sailed to new worlds. Charting trade routes up rivers and across oceans. In America, port cities fueled the growth of a new nation.
Then, fifty years ago, the history of shipping was altered forever when Port Newark launched the world’s very first container ship.
Today the expansion in global trade is creating a new frontier in shipping.
A new generation of container vessels is heading our way. They are massive — more than a quarter of a mile long. They can carry twice as much cargo as before. These goliaths are changing the face of shipping.
With wider canals. Higher bridges. Deeper harbors.
Getting them here is one thing. Moving their payload… that’s another story. One that is challenging us to think bigger, and work smarter than ever before.
The question facing us is: Can we move a million more containers each year?
The answer is Yes. When the new ships arrive, PNCT will be ready.
The PNCT team is transforming every inch of our operation.
Demolishing old warehouses to create more space for more trucks.
Installing larger, high-speed cranes.
New straddle carriers. A new gateway. New wharves for the marine highway.
In all we’re investing more than a half a billion dollars.
We know the supply chain begins and ends here at PNCT. The goods that people need flow through our port every day.
The medicine mothers need for their children.
New technology for expanding business.
Critical supplies for our soldiers overseas.
This is the precious cargo we orchestrate each day like a symphony. With millions of movements.
From ships, to trucks, to trains.
Seamlessly. Safely. Securely.
To be the strongest link in the global supply chain we are making the move from a simple terminal operator to a sophisticated logistics organization.
We know our families and our nation are depending on us.
So when the new ships arrive…
PNCT will be ready.
