Project Main Details

Oak Videogame Marketing Video
I work for an award-winning independent video game developer based in the UK. We're putting together a short animated video that will demonstrate a new idea we're hoping to develop, and which requires a few lines of professionally performed and recorded voice acting.

The year is 2032. It's been 37 years since the polar base 'Camp Century' was revealed as an elaborate cover for a clandestine missile base beneath Greenland’s ice sheet.

Investigative journalist CJ Beamish and camera operator Cass Jackson are chasing down the story of their careers. Having gained access to a recently abandoned Arctic research station, CJ believes they are finally on the verge of exposing an undisclosed truth about the missile base.

After breaking into the polar base, a catastrophic accident separates the news crew duo. Cass is only able to communicate with CJ via the camera and mic of her remote-operated drone, the controls of which CJ has to quickly get to grips with.

Fee is based on a buyout.
10 - 20 lines of VO performed as the character of CASS JACKSON.
At least 3 takes of each line.
To be recorded to a professional standard with your own equipment.
All takes of a single line to be recorded and delivered unedited in Mono, 48kHz, 24bit, WAV file format.

Script Details

(Closeup shot looking out of the window of a secure control room door. From outside the control room, there are the loud rumbles of metal creaking and ice cracking. All of a sudden, someone bangs on the door loudly. Cass is locked outside, in a fearful and panicked hurry...)

[CASS]: Are you in yet? Come on, COME ON!

[CASS]: Hey! It's REALLY not feeling very safe out here.

[CJ]: Alright, I’m in. Just...give me a minute to look around.

[CASS]: I don’t have a minute! This place is falling apart. You gotta hurry.

[CJ]: Ok, ok. What am I looking for?

[CASS]: Just find a way to open this door, and fast! There’s a KEYPAD out here. Can you see a number ...a code? ANYTHING!

[CJ]: I don’t see a… oh hey, hang on. What’s this?

[CASS]: Shit... "Hang on" he says. What’s what!? Just tell me what you've found. Tell me you’ve found something!

[CJ]: There’s a note with a bunch of symbols on it. And some letters.

[CASS]: Symbols?! This keypad needs numbers. I need numbers! Argh! We don’t have time for this! What do they look like?

[CJ]: They’re just shapes. Squares, a triangle, some circles...

[CASS]: (after brief pause) Polygons! SIDES!

[CJ]: Eh?

[CASS]: The number of sides on the shape! Circle is one, triangle three - try that! So what is it, what’s the code?

[CJ]: But what about the letters? ...er ...M, T, W, T (after brief pause) ...oh, I get it! ...what day is it?

[CASS]: Why the hell do you care!? I’m gonna die out ---

[CJ]: Just tell me what day it is!

[CASS]: Thursday. It's Thursday dammit! So WHAT!?

[CJ]: Thursday… OK... try ONE, FOUR, THREE, FOUR.

[CASS]: Alright! ...ONE ...FOUR ...THREE ...FOUR.

(We hear a louder rumbles and cracks. The windows of the control room rattle. A beep sounds with each digit as CASS repeats them back and enters the code on the keypad. After the final digit, a long beep signifies the code has been entered correctly, followed by the sound of the door unlocking. The door opens just enough to be free of its latch when a loud crash is heard and the lights suddenly go dark. In the subsequent silence, the door swings open slowly. The player/drone casts light on the floor in the doorway and slowly moves toward the open door.)
