Script Details

New York is home to 20 million people – all moving – running – riding – driving.

In less than 100 years, New York’s population has doubled.

In the past, New Yorkers have built some of the most impressive structures in the world – a 363-mile canal, 233 miles of subway, a 570-mile toll road, and some of the most innovative bridges in history.

Now, New York is regaining its ambition with the largest construction and development investment in America, a $100 billion infrastructure plan. Governor Cuomo’s motto: build where you grow.

And this plan includes $27 billion to rebuild and improve thousands of miles of road and bridges while supporting public transit in cities like Syracuse, Rochester and Buffalo.

In downstate: a new transportation network. From the east, New York State is building additional lines of track on the LIRR to carry more riders and cut down on delays.

From the north: four new Metro-North stops in the Bronx, connecting the Metro-North system to Penn Station for the first time ever.

And from the west: a new cross-Hudson tunnel to carry trains in and out of New York.

New York is not just rebuilding what is – but building for what it will become.

$27 billion to the MTA will strengthen a system already at a capacity so that New York can continue to grow.

A massive expansion of Javits – the busiest convention center in the nation.

The new Penn Farley Complex – a redeveloped transit hub worthy of a New York welcome.

A new airport at LaGuardia with an AirTrain to the LIRR and subway system.

The Governor’s plan is creating a quarter-million construction jobs.
