KCET Artbound Charles Lummis Special ZD685059
KCET's award winning documentary series Artbound is amidst production on an hour long special exploring the life of Charles Fletcher Lummis; an enigmatic and under appreciated historical figure whose influence and cultural contributions helped shape Los Angeles's identity at the turn of the 20th century. This hour long special explores topics of historical preservation, cultural, and ethnic transformation through the lens of Lummis's intriguing and peculiar life.
The production is currently searching for talent who can help provide a voice for Charles Lummis's written material which is interspersed throughout the film. Being an North-Easterner born in the mid 1800s, Lummis sported a Mid-atlantic accent, a manner of speaking which is no longer prevalent in America today.
We do have a sample of Charles Lummis's actual voice, which you can find attached. We are hoping to find someone who can imitate this voice in an accurate way, or provide a version of this accent that is perhaps more subtle and subdued. If an accurate imitation cannot be attained, then the goal would be to craft a version of this voice with a similar tone, but not over-the-top. In other words, in terms of the acting and delivery, less is more. Attached can be found here: ******************************************************

Mid-Atlantic accent which sounds similar to Theodore Roosevelt.
The blood of the old Los Angeles was slow and Sluggish. Its pulses had never felt the thrill of the age. It walked in beaten paths. Stability and not change were the laws of its life.
Its old adobe wall might be regarded as the photographs of the lives behind them... they were changeless.
But all of this has past. Bright, lovely, modern Los Angeles was born. Cradled in the fragrance of the orange and rejoicing in the sunshine of her semitropical climate. As she grew she overtook the old order of things. The blood ran quick in her veins. It was not blood native to the soil, but the warm stirring blood of American progress.
