Script Details

Ignite 2016.
Microsoft boots Okta from its biggest conference "due to broad competition between our companies."
Why? Microsoft is worried that cloud forward companies will choose Okta for IDaaS.
Or for CRM.
Or Box for File Sharing Or Google apps for Productivity.
Or AWS for Cloud Platform Or an iPhone.
Or a Chrome browser.
Or anything that is not Microsoft.

Companies evaluating an IDaaS solution today have to make a foundational choice.
A choice between a cloud-first architecture and a complex extension to an on-premise environment.
A choice between a beautiful and seamless experience versus a bunch of solutions cobbled together.
The flexibility to select the vendor of their choice versus forcing proprietary software from 1999.
That is not innovation.
That is not best of breed.

So...Instead of being open and foster choice, Microsoft bundles a bunch of products together.
And packages it in an Enterprise Agreement that is complex and expensive.
And make it seem like some components are “free” or “included.”
But you know what they say about free.
And that EA price keeps going up for products that they don’t use or don’t want, which results in hiring consultants to save licensing costs.
And a solution that is disjointed and messy.

We live in a new world.
EAs and Bundles are Out.
Choice is In.
Some think that Microsoft is the safe choice.
We think it is very risky.

Okta is different.
Our product is simply better.
Let’s do a POC and BVA to prove it.
This is why many organizations evaluate EMS but choose Okta.

Ask Microsoft to connect you with a happy customer
Can someone please step forward? Not even one?

So team, in conclusion... if you remember nothing else, follow these 3 simple steps when competing with Microsoft
1. Paint the big vision
2. Combat their O365 or EA Play
3. Prove the Big Vision

And we will see you at Ignite, Satya...we’ll bring you another shirt.
Okta. Always Open. Always On.
