Project Main Details

Indigenous Communities Resisting Mining
This project is an 18-23 minute documentary with about 2 pages worth of Voice Over copy. I shot and am producing this project for an NGO that organized a tour for representatives from a community in Thailand adversely affected by a foreign owned Gold mine to go to Mexico to exchange with communities in Oaxaca also affected by mining, to begin an effort to globalize indigenous peoples resistance to destructive mining projects. I am looking for someone that can work with me to create a sound that works well for the tone of the message that isn't mechanical or robotic but is a little loose, gritty, trusting, and engaging. If your interested in the topic, I'd love to hear from you. Thanks for your time.

Script Details

Our World is Made of Mountains.
The Items that predicate modern living, come from this: THE EARTH. We’re Moving…..FAST! Mining has made the world go round for thousands of years.
To what extent is this progress? Are the costs really hidden anymore?

Modern technology, while making the world more inhabitable and interconnected has created a fog of isolation: where the global economy thrives on offering a platform for the consumer to operate on a level of removal.

The prehistoric practice of mining has evolved into a highly sophisticated, yet devastating act. We can dig deeper and faster, processing minerals often times not visible to the naked eye from miles beneath the surface of the earth.

Yes, we’ve reached a tipping point. One where the materials that make up the tools that allow us to progress, have led to environmental and human rights abuses that have become harder and harder to ignore.

This story takes us to the front lines of a battle being waged by communities around the world fighting to defend their land and culture from a multi billion dollar industry.
