This video will show you how to safely load and unload your bike from a standard bus bike rack. All “e” buses are equipped with bike racks from April 15 to November 15 each year.

If you want to load your bike on to the bus, there are a couple rules that you need to follow:
Signal the driver with a wave and direct eye contact to let them know that you are going to load a bike.
Wait until the bus comes to a complete stop and proceed to the bike rack at the front of the bus. Grip the handle at the center of the bike rack and pull the handle up to release the bike rack. Pull the handle out and down so that the bike rack is in the down position.

Once the bike rack is firmly locked in the down position, carefully lift your bike and position it into the wheel well. Ensure that the front wheel of your bike is facing the locking mechanism.
Grip the securing arm and position it up and over the front wheel of your bike. Ensure that the securing arm is down tight on the wheel so that your bike is secure.

After you have securely loaded your bike, remove any loose accessories or items that could fall off during the ride. Always use the rack closest to the bus if you are the only cyclist using the rack.

When you reach your stop, inform the driver that you are going to take your bike off of the bus rack.

Safely move to the front of the bus and pull the release arm down and off of your bike tire. Return the arm to its original position. Lift your bike out of the wheel well, pull the handle, and return the rack to the locked position.

It is so easy to ride the “e” with you bike! [emphasis on this line]
