Project Main Details

History of the Star Spangled Banner Topical
Daystar Television Network. This is a 90 second topical that involves dramatic retelling of the famous events surrounding Francis Scott Key as he was inspired to pen "The Star Spangled Banner." The narrator takes the audience through the events of the battle surrounding Key and Key's inspiration to begin penning a song.

The tone of the narrator should sound historic and slightly dramatic to heighten the storytelling -- much in the vain of the history channel. There's almost a sense of pride in the narrator's voice as he remembers the patriotism from America's beginning era.

Script Details

A lawyer held captive by circumstance…

A Fort under bombardment by British Battleships…

A moment in history that would personify the American spirit…

Aboard a British ship, Francis Scott Key was forced to watch as the British attempted to overtake the defenses at Fort Henry on the coast of Maryland…

Yet in the awakening hours of a nightlong parade of munitions fire, he saw a sight so inspiring that he penned these words…

“Oh Say Can you see by the dawns early light what so proudly we hail at the twilights last gleaming…”

It was old glory still waving, standing strong, resilient…

Though the British had rained down cannon fire on the Fort, each explosion…

“Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.”

And on that beach head, as the smoke cleared revealing those stars and stripes,

America was forever solidified as the “land of the free and the home of the brave.”
