Script Details

Around the chapel are the remains of eight rock-cut graves, six to the west of the chapel and two to the east. These graves are unique in Britain and their function not properly understood.

Several of them are body shaped and have rock cut sockets, which were possibly for wooden crosses, and it is likely they would have been originally covered with heavy stone slabs.

The graves are orientated west-east, which suggests Christian burial graves. However they are too small to contain whole adult burials, unless the bodies were broken and forced into the available space, a practice which is not unheard of in the early Christian period.

Perhaps more likely is that the graves functioned as ‘reliquaries’ to hold the remains of saints and other important Christians, perhaps even those of Saint Patrick himself. Or perhaps they were the focus for gifts and offerings left by pilgrims, inspired to visit by the site’s association with St. Patrick.
Please note that you should only use the script or your recording of it for auditioning purposes. The script is property, unless otherwise specified, of the voice seeker and it is protected by international copyright laws.
