Delta Kite Initiative 
This is a student project. It's just a proof of concept for an editing class in Miami Ad School.

About budget, I can pay you under a couple hundred dollars. I know our budget is limited, but it's for a good cause: helping a student to graduate with an awesome voice in the project.

In our school we were asked to have a creative idea for a random client, just as an exercise, and we were asked to make a video-case to present the idea.

This project was originally thought for Boeing, but our teacher thought it would be better for an Airline company, so we picked Delta Airlines.

Script Details

More than 20 million Americans suffer from a fear of flying.

It has been proven time and time again that flying is the safest way to travel, but cold statistics are not enough to convince people who panic with just the thought of getting into a plane.

For some reason people started to think airlines spend most of their time looking down – fixated in dollars’ numbers - instead of looking up to the skies and its safety. People simply don’t trust airlines that much anymore.

We think it’s time for people to meet the men behind the mask. Our people and their hearts.

Here in Delta Airlines we are all still in awe of flying. We never took and will never take it for granted.

While we’ve spent the last 100 years growing to be one of the most successful air companies in the world, we still have not lost touch with what moves us. What’s at our core.

Because at the root of all our success is a very powerful and fundamental value – the human passion for flight. Our engineers built one of the most technically-driven air company in the world based on that. Our people are devoted to innovation and technology to better the breath-taking majesty of flight.

And to let the world see who we are and what we value, we offered our engineers and mechanics an opportunity to seek out other like-minded souls.

People who lives are ignited by the majesty and mystery of flight. Who share our drive to push the boundaries of what it means to fly.

Surprisingly, we found them in the favelas of Brazil.

Introducing, Delta Kite Initiative.


There are over 30 million children in Brazil. Many of them with few opportunities in life. Yet here we found the spirit of human achievement alive and well.

These children of favelas build by hand these amazing kites that despite the lack of training and education, are incredibly sophisticated flying machines.

So we sent our engineers here. To work side by side with these kids and their kites.

Kids who are so into making and flying kites that they have no idea how sophisticated and savvy they are about aerodynamics. And physics. And engineering. Just raw desire for the ultimate expression of human passion: making something fly.
Here our engineers help these kids by teaching them how to apply the laws of physics, by showing them how engineering and aerodynamics can help make their handmade kites, the best kites in the world.

The best kites will become real products, sold at airports and online, with the sales profits going straight to educational programs of the communities the kids live in.
And by documenting this story, the kids and the kites - the Delta Kite Initiative will help hundreds of kids; and will help our customers; to gain trust for us while bringing the brand closer to people’s hearts. We will show the world our passion and values – our desire to build more than airplanes, but to keep building and maintaining our passion, our reason to exist.
