Cracking Up ZD683750
We are doing a pitch video for a documentary series about stand-up comics. This is a funny but thoughtful series that, in particular, highlights some of the mental health struggles of comics in a compassionate way. We don't focus on that in the trailer, but it is the purpose of the show. The piece should appeal to 20 and 30-somethings. If you are chosen we'll likely do a fast re-record of the revised script. This is a low-budget documentary project that we hope will go somewhere because of this pitch video. Regarding the read, the character can sound like a young host for a comedy show, possibly a comedian himself. He should play it somewhat straight (ie. not an over-the-top, announcer-sounding read). Imagine what Ryan Seacrest would do with this. We would like a custom demo to preview the read for our executive producer.

Every city has an underground network of comics. They’re friends. And enemies. Sometimes both.
They live together… sleep together… and struggle together.
They’ll do ANYTHING to make ends meet. And even MORE… to hit the big time.
Now… ten of New Orleans’ best comics have their shot.
Through a series of unexpected and hilarious challenges… that will push them to the brink… they have one month to develop their best work… and premiere it at the legendary HOUSE OF BLUES.
But only one of them will walk away with the grand prize: $100,000 and their own comedy show.
Can this group of friends and rivals work together? Or will the promise of fame and fortune… provoke SABOTAGE?
Please note that you should only use the script or your recording of it for auditioning purposes. The script is property, unless otherwise specified, of the voice seeker and it is protected by international copyright laws.
