Anna and Josephs Orientation Videos
This video series is hosted by two animated characters, one male and one female, that are the characters you'll be reading for. This video series is to educate refugee children on the information they need to know coming in to government care. There are four videos: Orientation for Shelter Care, Orientation for Foster Care, information about sexual harassment and abuse (a version for teens and a version for kids). Below is a section of the script that has some of the silly back and forth as well as the informative pace. Just read the lines for the character you're auditioning for. Feel free to put some personality and fun in to it, but make sure that doesn't over shadow the conversational and natural direction you should aim for. With the informative parts really try to read it like your talking to the kids (ages 6 - 18). Sorry for the script formatting, the site keeps taking away line breaks. I've added a series of dashes, to indicate where the line breaks are.

Script Details

Joseph and Anna: Shelter Rules (Room Rules)
Joseph: [cartoony ghost voice] This is the ghost of the shelter grounds, obey my rules or perish at the noodley hands of the spaghetti monster in the sky –
Anna: Joseph – so weird, Please stop. This information is not a joke.
Joseph: [back to normal voice] Neither is the spaghetti monster, but yes yes yes, Anna is right. Some of the rooms in the shelter have different rules that are important to be aware of. We’re going to go over some of those, so listen carefully.
Anna: Thanks Joseph. You will be sharing a bedroom with 1 to 4 other kids. You may only go into your assigned bedroom after you have asked permission from staff. You are only allowed in the bedroom that you have been assigned to.
Joseph: As for the bathroom, only one person is allowed in at a time. The bathroom is the only place you should change your clothes, and always make sure that the door is shut.
Anna: Residents are not allowed in the kitchen area. Water and cups will always be provided by staff.
Joseph: You are allowed in the dining room, but you are responsible for making sure that your eating area is clean after your meal. That includes wiping your dishes and silverware, and putting them away. Failure to return silverware will result in disciplinary action.
Anna: You are allowed in the Living Room and you can sit on the sofas. However, you cannot lie down and there cannot be more than three people on a sofa at a time.
Joseph: You may enter the laundry room to wash your laundry. Like the bathroom, only one resident is allowed in the laundry room at a time. Do the laundry dance!
[music kicks on and Joseph dances like no ones watching, in the laundry room]
Anna: Let’s not. [music cuts off] I’m going outside, depending on the weather you may be able to go outside for recreational activities with a staff member. You or a group will be escorted outside in a single file line. If there is a fence around the perimeter of the outside courtyard you are not allowed within 10 feet of the fence unless directed or accompanied by staff.
Please note that you should only use the script or your recording of it for auditioning purposes. The script is property, unless otherwise specified, of the voice seeker and it is protected by international copyright laws.
