Project Main Details

The Story:

X-ing is a comedic and poignant story about two pairs of best friends who meet on a lonely stretch of Northern Ontario highway. Chris and Mike are university students trying to relive the lost freedom of their high school summers. Keester and Bulsch are socially inept moose simply trying to fill a boring evening in the woods. These young fellows may come from different worlds, but their striking similarities provide them with a seriously silly, yet insightful glimpse into the nature and truth of friendship.

The Characters that we need voice for:

Bulsch: With the physique of a former athlete who has let himself go on Canadian beer, Bulsch is an intimidating presence. This only works to heighten the contrast of his friendly, philosophical nature. Whatever his best friend Keester’s plan is, he just wants to hang out with some people and drink a few more cold ones before autumn comes to the forest.

Keester: A talkative, flamboyant moose with a penchant for long monologues, Keester prides himself on taking the longest route between two points. As eager as he is to find something to do, Keester can’t help but indulge in a little intimidation and hysterics before getting to the point. At least his heart is in the right place.

Based on Chris and Mike’s many fond memories of their high school summers in Northern Ontario, X-ing deals with modern and nostalgic themes, while never taking itself too seriously – even when the film hits its most serious note in Bulsch’s climactic monologue.

While many animated shorts focus primarily on silent, visual stories, X-ing separates itself from the fold by reveling in character interaction and dialogue exchange, allowing both the voice actors and their on-screen counterparts to play off each other and carve out a unique and organic dynamic – one befitting the meeting of new friends, regardless of their species.

Right now we are mainly looking for Bulsch's voice, recording will take place in Toronto.
