Project Main Details
On this site, everyone will get newsfeed on current events and news happening at CCS before even logging in.
After login, the students will have on their home page news feed by their class professors about their class. A section for job notifications if they have had interest show towards them or were offered a position. They will also be able to upload their portfolio, post a profile of themselves, a resume, and search for job openings.
The faculty gets to create a profile, post some examples of their work if they wish, and give a brief work history. The faculty will get in their newsfeed updates as to when student post work into their process blogs and when students post work to get feedback from the site's community in the forum so that the faculty member can reply to the student's post and give them feedback on the posted work. The faculty also have the ability to post news and updates to the newsfeed for specifically the students or for the entire community.
The alumni profiles will have the ability to create and edit a profile, post examples of their work, and post some information about themselves and about where they have work so that students and other alumni members will get some kind of idea what it is like to work at a certain business.
The employers profile is just a business profile. It will have information about the business, a list of contacts within the company, a list of students that have applied for a position at the company and a list of students that they have previously viewed for positions, and section where job and internship openings can be posted.
An added benefit for the employer is the ability to look through individual students to fill positions by search through a gallery of student work.
The main focus on the site, is the interaction that between the Students and the Employers. When the employers want to fill a position they can either post the position opening and have the students seek them out or they can seek out the student using the gallery of student work. In order to ensure that the junior and senior student's work is seen by the employers, anything that the those student upload to their portfolio will be filtered into the student gallery. The projects that the employer can see can be filtered by print, web, motion, and environmental among others.
If the student wants to look for jobs they can go to the job search section and can search for jobs in their field. After clicking on the job title, a description of the job will appear and the student can apply for the if they wish to.
The secondary interactions in the community are the students with the faculty and alumni. Both the faculty and alumni are able to give the students feed back on their work that has been posted in the forum and on the student's personal process blog. They are also able to answer questions from the students when they are seeking advice on projects or anything that the students would need to know about working in a professional environment.
The last secondary interaction that occurs in the community is between the alumni members. We want the alumni to be able to interact with each other because that way they can help each other when it comes to finding work. If the someone's work needs a new employee, a former student at CCS is more likely to recommend someone that they went to school with and have prior knowledge about their work and ethic.
This is the Department of Graphic Design's website, but it represents more then just the department. It represents CCS's design community.
