Project Main Details
The idea is around paying it forward -- you can't get yourself in the book, you can only donate to get your Facebook friends in the book. When your friend donates to put you in, you can then pay it forward by sponsoring other people. 100% of everything we raise on WaterForward will fund clean water projects. The idea is to help end the water crisis one book at a time.
The thing is -- the whole idea behind ***********d is a bit confusing (it took me a bit to explain it even here in an email). So we're making a video breaking down the process into super simple terms, a short animation with VO. 2011-06-27 15:39:07 GMT 2011-06-28 19:00:00 (GMT -08:00) Pacific Time (US & Canada) Yes (click here to learn more about ) Closed 0 0 6 direct invitation(s) have been sent by the voice seeker resulting in 0 audition(s) and/or proposal(s) so far. There are a billion people in the world living without clean water.
Soon, there are going to be a billion people in the world using social media.
Idea: What if we could get the billion with clean water to help the billion without?
We’ll represent all these people in a BIG ONLINE BOOK.
A sea of faces -- of all the people chipping in to end this water crisis.
Each slot in the book costs $10, and 100% of the money goes towards building water projects in developing countries.
500 faces per page and 2,000 pages per book.
If you do the math, each book represents $10 million!
And each time we fill up a new book of faces, we’ll celebrate its impact by printing a physical copy to keep someplace special. Just think -- a book that raised $10 million to fund clean water. That’s huge. We could put a copy of it in the Library of Congress, or... maybe even in the Oval Office of the president of the United States!
Wow. Ok, wait let’s back up.
How will we get people in this book?
We’ll ask everyone to pay-it-forward.
You may have heard of paying it forward. If not, here’s how it works: your friend does something nice for you, say... buys you a coffee. But when you go to pay him/her back, she/he tells you not to give them anything. Instead, you have to pass their good deed on to someone else.
This is how ************ works.
You can’t put yourself in the book. Someone else -- your friend, your boss, your mom -- has to sponsor you with a $10 donation. They have to already be in the book to do this. Somebody else put them in; now, they’re paying it forward to you.
How do you get in the book if you haven’t been invited? What if no one you know is in there yet?
Sign up to receive a Random Acts of Kindness. [show page/signup bar with arrow?]
People already in the book have the option to commit a Random Act of Kindness by donating on behalf of strangers. We’ll email you if you receive one of these.
Once you’re in, it’s up to you to pay it forward. We’ll track who you paid it forward to, and then who those friends have paid it forward to... so you can see how your connections have really had an impact.
If you don’t pay it forward, well... then the chain of giving stops with you. [sad!]
There’s no limit to the number of people you can invite. Each new person in the book helps others in developing countries gain access to clean drinking water.
Imagine -- if we filled 2,000 books, we could fund enough water projects to help every single person who is currently living without clean water.
All because we decided to pay it forward.
